Holy Sheet! It's been bloody ages!

Well, I've been a naughty, lazy girl haven't I? A lot has happened since December 2008, but instead of catching up.. I'll just start anew..ok with you?

Music:
Well I went through a Kings Of Leon phase and I still love them but just not listening to Sex On Fire about 300 times a day.. bloody hell Caleb is gorge!

I just discovered Daniel Merriweather and One eskimO, thank you VH1 "you oughta know". Daniel's song Red is beautiful and his vocals remind me of Terence Trent D'arby. Definitely some blue-eyed soul coming through from this handsome man from Australia.

One eskimO's Kandi is definitely something you should check out..it's got sampling of Candy Staton's "He called me baby" in it and the lead singer's voice is smoky and sexy.. I'm attaching the vid!

Also, have been really into the live music scene lately and have been getting to sing with some great musicians, ooh.. I'm a kj/dj now too... will chat more about that later.. promise! Remind me if I don't ok?

Wow! It's been six months since my last post.. hmmm

I'm still alive and kicking. I have been singing up a storm as of late, what with joing the Neponset Choral Society and my church choir. Of course Im still singing Karaoke. The NCS just had our concert on the 13th and 14th of this month and I think it went rather well. Yay! Now it's just church choir and the occasional karaoke. I've been going to a new place to support the dj who is a friend and it is a YOUNG crowd. It's usually a sausage party so there's alot of cute guys, but I only look! I'm married! So me no touch!

Over the summer I've been on the boat with my hubby and those were great times, I love taking road trips and going down to the Cape-I went to Lennonfest and that was cool as well as the Cranberry Festival and King Richard's Faire. I also went to Salem and tons of other cool places. Wanna see some piccies? Sure you do!

The first pic is The Friendship of Salem, a replica sailing ship that I got to tour inside and out. I was taking pics and going to write an article for the newspaper that I was working at but they chose not to run the special travel section due to no advertisers! Oh well. I pounded the bloody pavement for two days too!
The next photo is the sign at British Beer Works in Falmouth Heights, Cape Cod where the Lennonfest was being held at Strawberry Fields, adjacent to BBW and the beach. Lovely day and great music. Everyone was dressed as hippies..even me! Peace Man!

THe next lovely photo is me, in all my Renaissance glory, having a go at archery. I could tell you I was fab, but I'd be miserably lying. I did have fun tho.

THe next awesome photo which I took with my cellphone.. as all the others.. I'm so awesome.. kudos me! Anyway, this was the church where the Greek Festival was held. Yes, I went to a Greek Festival. I'm Half Greek (Cypriot Greek mind you, but it counts) It was a fun day and I got to eat all the yummy, nummy Greek pastries and Loukaniko! (google that shiznit!)

The next pic is of Edaville Railroad, where Cranberry Fest was being held. WHERE WERE THE BLOODY CRANBERRIES I ASK YOU. I think there was two stalls where there were cranberries.. I went there looking to taste, smell and bloody have Cranberries comin out me arse. Oh well.. I did get to MEET HELLO KITTY. Yeah.. I always think Hello Kitty when I think of Cranberries don't you? not. I did take pics with her cuz I am a geek. (in case you doubted that fact before)

So there were tons more pics and cool times.. but I'll save that for another post so I have an excuse to actually come on here more often.. I've lots to tell and music to chat about!

My latest faves and I suggest you check em out if you haven't already my brothas!
Adele: Chasing Pavements, Cold Shoulder
Arctic Monkeys: Mardy Bum, Teddy Chaser
those are the A's.. I'll give ya more tomorrow! Peace out!

A New Direction in My Blog

I've decided,as I've not written a new blog in a while that I should write about that which I know and love best: Music. I am a musician after all, with quite an eclectic taste in music, a knowledge of useless trivia and I think people might find what I have to say interesting.

At this point I'm not sure how I'll format it yet, but maybe I'll talk about which bands I'm into and why and fun facts about them, etc. or maybe which songs, etc.

I can tell you that I'm a singer and a percussionist. I write Christian Music but it's been a while since I've written anything new. I have written non-christian material as well, but those usually stem from something personal. My last song was a Blues/Soul song called Enabled. I think if I had the chance to record it that it would do quite well because it's actually a really good song. It has a Joss Stone feel to it. I have been writing poetry since I was seven and there are some poems that I'd love to make into songs, but I need some help arranging my music. I only write the melody and the lyrics.

I go through different phases musically in my life and usually when I like a band alot I go through a phase where thats all I listen to. For example age 7 I loved Michael Jackson.. hee hee, around 9 or 10 I saw Hall & Oates on Solid Gold and was hooked.

My First Record:
My sister Regina purchased it for me for my birthday and I was soooo happy. I actually still have it! I am suprised I didn't wear it out. I loved them into my teen years.

But I had discovered Phil Collins in 1981 via this spectacular album which I heard my Mum playing one day. The song was In The Air Tonight and I was hooked.
I think I'll discuss the next phase in my musical development in my next blog.. this is fun!

Singin again..

I made this video and sang the song, Genesis is my favorite band and this version of the song is by Paul Carrack with Steve Hackett on guitar. I'ts just a snippet but it works.. vocals aren't the best but I wasn't trying to make them be. Just thought I'd share.

one track lover.. gawd I love this video

The following video is from Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. The guy singing is Matt Berry he plays Dr. Julian Sanchez, the blonde is "Liz" and the "bartender" is
"Dr.Thornton" who is played by Richard Ayoade. (not shown is "Dr. Dagless" who is also "Garth Marenghi" who is actually Matthew Holness. If you ever get a chance to see the show it's really quite funny.

There goes the sun!

I take all that back.. the bloody sun is gone now.. what the..

Here.. watch this video.. it'll explain how I'm feeling

Here Comes The Sun.. it's alright!

"Be like the flower, turn your face to the sun" (Kahlil Gibran)
It felt so nice to go out today and feel the warm sun on my shoulders, it's still a little breezy but the warmth made me want to stay out longer, to sit out somewhere and read a book or to roll around in the grass like my dog.

There's the
grass roller!
So I suggest that if you have the chance get out there and enjoy the lovely sunny day.. that's what I'm gonna go do right now!
Well.. what are you waiting for.. go! hee hee..

God's beautiful creations:in Mum's Garden

'Tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes!
~William Wordsworth,
"Lines Written in Early Spring," Lyrical Ballads, 1798

As I've stated previously, I love taking nature pics.. this was taken in my Mum's garden, can you see the little cricket in the center? Hello Jiminy!
"Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into. "
~Henry Beecher

Mum and I love pansies, this was also taken from pansies in her garden. My Mum has a green thumb and she prefers to grow an English garden. I prefer it as well to be honest. I love Lupines and all the flowers that remind me of a little cottage. I bet if you look hard enough you can see a little flower fairy hanging out beneath the petals.

Earth laughs in flowers.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Hamatreya"
A Gorgeous Zinnia! Wouldn't you say? Well I would so there! Another taken from Mum's garden, I must say the photographer is simply amazing! (Little pat on the back for myself there) Wow.. God is so neat, he adorns the earth with the most beautiful little creations. King Solomon in all his glory didn't wear robes as beautiful as these.

"Look at us, said the violets blooming at her feet, all last winter we slept in the seeming death but at the right time God awakened us, and here we are to comfort you". ~Edward Payson Rod

I'll post more pictures from my Mum's Garden and other nature pics that I've been taking over the years.

I'm a bit of a shutterbug!-Pics of Onset

I'm a bit of a shutterbug and I prefer taking pictures of nature. I feel most at home near the water and completely at peace. I find contentment and solace in the things that God has so lovingly created for us to enjoy. The following pictures were taken at Onset, Cape Cod,

What to blog about.. what a conundrum

BRAIN FREEZE!

Damn I loved that movie.. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are hilarious together, If you haven't seen Hot Fuzz you must stop reading, get up.. walk out the door go to your nearest purveyor of quality videos..OR netflix! Unless you're lucky to have a handy-dandy thing called "redbox" which if you ask me sounds bloody obscene.. anywho.. A lovely little machine that is filled with dvds! All for a dollar! Which is where I picked it up! (may I add not for sale for a dollar.. you actually have to return it!)

Back to the movie; If you rather enjoy side-splitting humour then you should watch this film, I won't spoil it for you but there are some lovely old grannies in it that you wouldn't wanna meet in a dark alley. In this picture they're enjoying a cornetto. Now for us Americanos.. that's the equivalent of those awesome cones that have the ice cream, chocolate and nuts on top.. ooh what's the name.. it escapes me, anyway.. here's what Wikipedia says about it:

Cornetto is a branded frozen ice cream cone, manufactured by Unilever and marketed throughout the world under various different company names, but with the same Heartbrand logo.
The idea of selling frozen ice-cream cones had long been a dream of ice-cream makers, but it was not until 1959 that Spica[1], an Italian ice-cream manufacturer based in Naples conquered the problem of the ice-cream making the cone go soggy. Spica invented a process, whereby the inside of the waffle cone was insulated from the ice-cream by a layer of oil, sugar and chocolate. Spica registered the name Cornetto in 1960. Initial sales were poor, but in 1976 Unilever bought out Spica and began a mass-marketing campaign throughout Europe. It is now one of the most popular ice-creams in the world

In film
The Cornetto is referenced in the motion picture Shaun of the Dead. In one scene, Shaun (Simon Pegg) asks Ed (Nick Frost) if he needs anything from the shop. Ed responds, "Cornetto." This scene is repeated with the same actors in Hot Fuzz, and is a reference to co-writer and director Edgar Wright, whose preferred hangover cure is a Cornetto. In Shaun of the Dead, the flavour used was strawberry, which has red packaging to signify blood, and in Hot Fuzz, the flavour was classico (vanilla), which has blue packaging to signify police colours. A third film in the 'Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy' has been announced by Pegg and Wright, and the flavour will be mint. The film will be called The World´s End.

So there! I think it's explained somewhat..Now you want one don't ya?
I do! I'll have to pop over to London for one! Ahh.. i miss home.
